About Us

Gaining STEAM is a project of the Washington State Library STEAM Advisory Group, formed in 2019. Representatives from public libraries, school libraries, museums, non-profits and other organizations have volunteered to identify strategies to support library staff in developing and presenting science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) learning opportunities to adults, youth and families.

The advisory group imagined an online space where library staff could visit to find high quality STEAM program ideas, and share curriculum that worked well for them. If you would like to submit a STEAM program curriculum, please submit your idea here. If you have questions about the advisory group, or would like to get involved, please contact us.

To view and request circulating STEAM program kits, please visit the Circulating Program Kits page. Additional STEAM programming ideas can be found at the STARnet STEM Activity Clearinghouse. Unless otherwise noted, all lesson plans on Gaining STEAM are offered under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
